Jerry F. Anderton
KAYSVILLE a" Jerry F. Anderton, age 79, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, October 15, 2012.
He was born June 1, 1933 in Richfield, Utah to Frank and Von N. Anderton.
In his youth his life was filled with the joys of a simple country life, hunting, and fishing with his step-father Arnold Marble, whom he loved dearly. Jerry has always loved animals, especially dogs.
In 1952, Jerry proudly joined the Navy and defended our country in the Korean Conflict. He served on the U.S.S. Renshaw and loved to share the story of his ship being the only destroyer in history to ever sink a tank. During his time in the military Jerry was a communications expert and was on one of the few ships to witness the first testing and detonation of a nuclear bomb. He was also responsible for ship to shore communication and helping with the evacuation of the Bikini Islands following the test.
He later met and married the love of his life, Annette B. Rowley, on March 21, 1958. They made their home in Salt Lake City and later moved to Kaysville, Utah.
He spent his career at HAFB specializing in the guidance systems of the Minute Man Missiles.
Jerry patiently passed his love of hunting, fishing and the outdoors to his four children. He was a quiet thoughtful man whose silence spoke volumes.
Jerry is survived by his children David, Susan (Jay), Laura (Chad), Bryan (Heidi) and 11 grandchildren of whom he was immensely proud.
He was preceded in death by his wife Annette, daughter-in-law, Debbie, parents, and his step-father.
The family would like to thank the staff at George E. Wahlen Veteran''s Home and Autumn, Charlie and Vlad at Bristol Hospice for their loving care of our dad.
