Jerry Leon Davis
Our loving husband, father, cousin and friend Jerry Leon Davis, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 12, 2013. He was born on November 13, 1929 to John Floyd and Jennie Hickman Davis in Butte, Montana. He was raised by his father and maternal grandparents after his mother’s death.
Jerry grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School, Weber Academy and the University of Utah where he received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He served in the Air Force and retired from Hill Air Force Base as an engineer.
Jerry was a long standing member of Trinity Presbyterian Church. He was also a member of the Scottish Right of Free Masonry. He was a member and a Past Master of the Golden Spike Lodge #6.
He was a gentle man with quiet strength and great integrity. He was gracious and kind and most of all patient. He loved the game of golf. He enjoyed working in his yard. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially in the summer months showing off his grilling abilities.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Peggy, whom he truly adored; son, Greg (Bonnae); and cousins whom he was raised with that were more like siblings, Barbara Phillips, Leslie Cole and Merlin Cole.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Howard Davis, his parents, and grandparents.
The family would like to thank the staff, especially Debbie, at George E. Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden for the wonderful care he received while he was a resident.
