Jerry Ray Kap
CLEARFIELD – Jerry Ray Kap, 61, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Davis Hospital and Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. Jerry has returned to our Lord after suffering a year long struggle with cancer.
He was born in West Ogden, a son of Heino and Mary Ross Kap. Jerry was one of 13 children.
Jerry graduated from Ben Lomond High and went to Ricks College in Idaho on a football scholarship.
Jerry served his country in the Vietnam War. He was proud of the fact that he had been a Staff Sergeant and received a Medal of Valor.
Jerry was an Industrial Electrician at Western Zirconium and had worked for EG&G Electrical in Idaho and Hercules International.
He loved golfing, fishing, playing his guitar and singing songs. He also loved reading about history and had so much knowledge about this subject. He loved sports. Jerry was a great athlete and excelled in all sports.
Jerry was a great man and an inspiration to all that loved and knew him. He loved his family so much and will be truly missed by all.
Surviving are his wife Laurie, Clearfield, sons, Tim, Nick, Josh, Jerry, Justin, daughters, Becky, Bethann, Adrianna, brothers, Arnold W. Kap, Ross G. (Ann) Kap, Roby L. (Kristen) Kap, Rich D. (Chris) Kap, Kelly D. (Nancy) Kap, sisters, Barbara Swapp, Denise (Pepper) Provenzano and Marilyn (Norman) Thedell. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services will be held Friday, October 3, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Syracuse City Cemetery, 1290 So. 1000 W., where military honors will be accorded. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
