Jerry H. Leach
August 7, 1935 – November 9, 2017
Jerry Hinman Leach, age 82, of Layton, Utah, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2017. He was born on August 7, 1935 to Martin T. Leach and Berniece Irwin Leach in Arkansas City, Kansas. He graduated from East High School, Wichita, Kansas and Wichita State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. After graduation he moved to California where he worked as an aerospace engineer with U.S. Department of the Air Force. Jerry transferred to Hill AFB in 1965 with the Minute Man, Titan and F-16 program. He retired in 1992 after 32 years.
He married Jeri Lou Davidson on December 22, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Beach, California. They had two children David and Valerie. Jerry in his younger years was a mountain climber and ascended Grand Teton twice. He also enjoyed golfing, rafting the Snake River, camping, motorcycling in Canyonlands, and square dancing with Ace of Clubs. He enjoyed traveling and been to all 50 states and trips overseas. He was an avid University of Utah fan and attended basketball, football and gymnastics since 1969. Jerry is a long time member of Clearfield Community Church. He always had smile and was a gentle man.
Jerry is survived by his wife Jeri Lou, Layton, Utah, son David (Tricia) of West Hartford, CT, daughter Valerie (Craig) Siemer of Santa Cruz, CA, step-mother Faye W. Leach, Wichita, KS, granddaughter Olivia Siemer, grandson Oscar Leach, step-granddaughter Jasmine Siemer-Dunbar, brother-in-law Bill Davidson, Dayton, OH.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday November 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Clearfield Community Church, 525 East 200 South, Clearfield, Utah. Friends may visit with family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah, and Tuesday from 10 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
