Jerry LeRoy Monroe
Jerry LeRoy Monroe, resident of Layton, Utah passed away at his home April 2, 2015, he was 73.
Jerry was born in Ogden, Utah May 1, 1941, to Roy and Bonnie Monroe. He married his childhood sweetheart, Frankie Jo (Horrocks) in August, 1962 and together they raised five children. Jerry was a great family man and a loving father, but his greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman where he spent many hours camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed reading western novels.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 54 years Frankie Jo Horrocks, his children: Jerry Shane (Susan) Monroe, Suzanne (Chris) Texter, Stacey DeNelle (Randy) Russell, and Brian Scott Monroe (Tiffany), 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, siblings Ned (Joan), Dennis (Trudy), Steve, and Vicki (Paul).
His daughter, Terri Lynn, his parents, Neldon Royden Monroe and Lavon Violet (Bonnie) Campbell, and his sister Margene, brother Ron, great-grandchildren Braxton, and Lucas preceded him in death.
Jerry was the foundation of his family with his quiet ways, gentle humor and loving arms. He is going to be forever missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
