Jerry Dow Williamson

October 12, 1932 ~ June 30, 2017

Jerry Dow Williamson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, returned to his heavenly home Friday, June 30, 2017, on a beautiful summer afternoon.

He was born October 12, 1932 in Paris, Idaho to William Dow Williamson and Violet Olson. His childhood was spent in Bear Lake Valley where he attended elementary school. He later moved to Roy, Utah and attended Weber High School. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from California Western University.

Jerry married his eternal sweetheart and constant companion, Hannah Adams on September 16, 1955. Dad and mom have been shining examples of an eternal marriage.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and the Navy. He was employed as a salesman with General Electric and at Hill Air Force Base in contracting.

Jerry was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving as bishop of the Sunset 1st Ward and president of the Sunset Stake. He was known for his compassion and mercy and influenced numerous lives through his church service. He and Hannah served a mission as tour guides at the Paris, Idaho Tabernacle.

They also enjoyed spending winters in Yuma, Arizona. He loved to golf, fly fish, and fly small planes. Dad loved cowboys and shared his love of the Bar J Wranglers with his family. He also loved to visit the LDS tabernacle and listen to the choir and organ recitals. His greatest joy came from being with his family. Dad had a great sense of humor and could make friends easily with his stories and humor. He enjoyed making others smile and laugh.

Dad fought a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease for a number of years with little complaining.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hannah Williamson, their children and spouses, Jerry Williamson, Jr. (Jane), Robert Williamson (Phyllis), Patty Eves, (Jerry), Susan Dickson (Mark), Janet Thompson, Wendy Perkins (Dave), 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and his sister, Daviee DeRosia. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, and two grandchildren, LJ and Trevor Thompson.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Rocky Mountain Hospice, with special thanks to Karen Barlow for her loving attention and kindness to dad in his final weeks. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, 2017 at the Sunset 1st Ward Chapel, 2431 North 250 West. The family will meet with friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
