LAYTON – Jesse Tokuo Yoshimura, 31, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
Jesse was born April 12, 1985 in Ogden, Utah the son of Calvin H. and RuthAnne Peters Yoshimura.
“Yosh” graduated from Northridge High School in 2003 where he played football, basketball and baseball. During his senior year, he earned the MVP award for baseball. He received a BS Degree from Weber State University and earned his Master’s Degree in June of this year.
He married Sydney Rasmussen on September 6, 2012.
Jesse was a teacher and coach at Central Davis Jr. High School and Athletic Director, Physical Education teacher and Coach at Centennial Jr. High. Jesse was well respected by his peers and beloved by his students who went out of their way to sign up for his classes. At summer camps this year, his basketball teams went 29-1and all his teams were very excited for the upcoming season.
Yosh loved sports, especially basketball and softball. His teams won many league, state and national tournaments where he was the MVP in many of them. He was also recruited out of high school to play baseball at Dawson Community College in Montana.
Surviving are his wife, Sydney Rasmussen, father, Calvin, brother, Corey (Noa), sisters, Angela (Dorian) Grunig, Kristen, grandmothers, LuJeanne Peters, Yoshie Yoshimura, nephews, Brennen, Caleb, Austin, Terek, Mac, Ryo, nieces, BreiAnna, Grace, Minnie, aunts, uncles and his dogs, Rue and Walle.
Preceded in death by his mother, RuthAnne Yoshimura, grandfathers, Tokuo Yoshimura, Robert Peters, niece, Ashleigh and aunt, Ruth Fowers.
The family would like to thank the staff in the ICU at Ogden Regional for their care. Special thanks to Dave Hoch and Suzy Jensen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the Northridge High School auditorium, 2430 N. Hill Field Road, Layton, UT. Friends may visit family Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Northridge High School auditorium.
Interment, Hooper City Cemetery.
