Jewel Ella Lupeuluiva Schwenke Doyle Fuchs
I have fought valiantly against Carcinoid tumors for the last 5 A½ years and ended my battle early March 9, 2011 surrounded by my loving family.
Jewel was born June 19, 1965 in Utulei, American Samoa to Lema Frost and Max Schwenke. She was raised by Lema and James Doyle who adopted her as his own. She lived in American Samoa, Seattle, Washington, Portland, Oregon and Castro Valley, California before making Ogden, Utah her home.
Jewel was a gifted athlete and scholar graduating with honors from Bonneville High School in 1983. She attended Weber State College just shy of graduating in business before becoming the store manager of Ernst Home and Nursery. Everything she did, she did with the utmost integrity, compassion and purpose. Jewel moved up to Seattle, Washington to be with her brother as he continued his football career and education at the University of Washington. She moved back to Ogden, graduated from the police academy and then worked at the jail for the Box Elder County Sheriff''s Department. Later she moved to The Weber County Sherriff''s Office where she successfully ran the Police Academy for three years. Her diligence and hard work eventually paid off when she attained the rank of Lieutenant.
She received numerous awards throughout her life, including The Spirit of the American Woman award received after her diagnosis in 2005.
Jewel married William Fuchs Jr. February 5, 2000. She was blessed with two wonderful children, Madison Hope Tausala (10) and Daniel James La''auli (7). Jewel loved her children dearly and in the short time she had with them, nurtured so many wonderful qualities they will be blessed with for the rest of their lives.
