Jill LaDene Christensen Storey passed away January 16, 2025, after a 2-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was born September 27, 1945, to Boyd McKelvie Christensen, and Wanda May Helm Christensen, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She lived for 2 years in Bear River City, Utah, then her family moved to Sunset, Utah where she attended Clinton Elementary, the new Sunset Elementary, North Davis Junior High, and the first year of the new Clearfield High School. Just prior to Jill attending her Junior Year in High School, her family moved to Roy, Utah. Jill attended Weber High School and LDS Seminary where she graduated in 1963.
Jill worked for a year after high school, to financially prepare to attend college. She attended Weber State University, and LDS institute of Religion, until she was hired to work at Hill AFB. While attending institute, she was called to serve on a new Counsel. She was a member of the institute Choir and was chosen to sing in a newly formed Ladies Triple Trio, called The Melloaires. She experienced numerous memorable, spiritual experiences which impacted and supported her lifelong firm testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Jill married her neighbor, Michael Dennis Craner in the Salt Lake Temple April 14, 1966. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Chad Michael Craner, and Kimberly Craner. They divorced, and Jill married Robert Butler Storey November 21,1974. They were sealed in the Ogden Temple on their 21st Wedding Anniversary, November 21, 1995.
Jill worked at Hill AFB for 28 years, hiring on as a Clerk Typist, promoted to a Clerk Stenographer, a Supply Clerk, an Item Manager, and retired in 1993 as a Funds Management Specialist.
Jill and Bob enjoyed their retirement years working tirelessly in their yard and home, camping, skiing, enjoying dear friends, tripping, and playing Pinochle and just loving every minute of their lives. Eventually, Bob's health brought new struggles and challenges into their lives. Bob passed awaySeptember 30, 2013. Jill carried on, helping to assist her Sweet mother until she passed in 2015. Jill was blessed to enjoy her visits with her Dad until he passed at 101 years old, October 30, 2020. He spent the last four months of his life living with Jill.
Jill made the decision to sell her home, and move to St George, Utah, to be closer to her daughter. She loved her new home, and spectacular backyard view. Less than a year after moving, she became very ill, and received her diagnosis of Leukemia! Her children were such a loving support to her during this challenge.
Jill was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Boyd Christensen; sister, Laurie Christensen Miller; Mother; Father; Husband; Father-in-law, Ralph Ellis Storey; Mother-in-law, Virginia Butler Storey; brother-in-Law, Ray Ellis Storey; son, Robert Scott Storey; granddaughters, Gretchen Tyler Hamilton and Heather Hamilton Hamblin; and great-grandson, Lanse Jones.
Jill is survived by her sister, Pamela Christensen Glismann; Sister-in-law, Elaine Carver Christensen; brother-in-law, Gary Miller; sister-in-law, Linda Storey; son, Chad (Susan) Craner; daughter, Kimberly (Lanse) Chournos; daughter, Taunya Storey Hamilton Williamson (Jeff); Lawrence Tod Storey (Jennifer); 23 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday January 25, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah. Family and friends may visit Friday January 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.
Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton.
