Jim Stotts, 91, passed away on August 14, 2013. He was born near Delta, Colorado on November 20, 1921 to Lewis Edwin and Julia Anna Urban Stotts. Jim was raised and worked on the family farm with his three brothers. He played football and studied the carpentry trade during high school. After graduating from high school and one year of college he worked at the Long Beach, CA shipyard and was then drafted into the Army and served for two years. He worked at Handford Washington then transferred to Utah. It was in Utah he met his best friend, sweetheart, and partner, Margie Miles. They were married on February 9, 1946 in Ogden, Utah. Jim and Margie were able to spend 67 wonderful years together.
Jim and Margie loved to spend time together walking around the streets of Ogden or down by the Ogden River. They enjoyed taking family vacations to Yellowstone, Las Vegas and California. Traveling was a favorite, especially touring the historical areas of cities in the US. Another past time was sitting in the hot pools or swimming at Crystal Springs. Jim loved reading the newspaper and subscribed to three papers. He would read them all every day.
He worked for numerous construction companies but mainly with ZP Smith "Smitty" Construction Company. His proudest accomplishment was building the Patio Springs Country Club now known as Wolf Creek. He was a member of the Carpenter Union and FOE.
Jim and Margie owned and managed numerous rental properties. They provided safe, affordable, and comfortable living situations for many people for over 50 years.
Jim taught himself how to work the stock market and loved investment strategies. He had a strong philosophy a" work hard and play hard. "Pull weeds and then let''s go to ''Patio''".
He loved his Pekingese dogs, but most of all he loved his family.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Margie Stotts, Ogden; son, Jim (Sharma) Stotts, Ogden; daughter, Sandie (Steve) Dean, San Diego, CA; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Roger, Joe, Chester and Timothy (infant) ; and one sister, Ruth.
All are welcome to the graveside services being held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Logan Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
