Jimmie S. Diarte OGDEN – Jimmie Singh Diarte, 86, died Friday, October 10, 2008 at his home of causes incident to age. He was born July 25, 1922 in Ogden, a son of Charley Sher and Ygnacia Alvarado Singh. On December 25, 1956, Jimmie married Mary Augustina Galvan in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was raised and educated in Brigham City and spent most of his life in Ogden. He attended Box Elder High School and later graduated from Ogden City Adult High School. Jimmie was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church where he volunteered his services for over 40 years and received the “Man of the Year” Award and numerous other recognitions. He was known at the Church as “Mr. Boss”. He faithfully served his country with the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He retired from Defense Depot Ogden as a warehouse supervisor over textiles following 37 years of service. Jimmie was a member of the Ogden Community Improvement Council and the American Legion. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose and the American G.I. Forum. Jimmie enjoyed camping, bowling, hunting, playing horseshoes and spending time with his family. He also loved golf and softball which he played until he was 59 years old. Jimmie also assisted with Scouting Pack #293. Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Ogden; two sons and one daughter, James (Jeanne) Diarte, Cypress, TX; Carlos (Paula) Diarte, Ogden; Elena Bush (Rick Shelton) Roy; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Harry (Molly) Diarte, Roy; and Ray (Flora) Diarte, Ogden. Preceding Jimmie in death were one son, Sidney, his parents, and one sister, Helen. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, 495 North Harrison Blvd., with Father Charles Cummins officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. where Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard. Dad and Grandpa – thank you for all your guidance and unconditional love. We have great memories of you.
