Jimmie A. Papageorge "The Last Calves Have Been Fed"

Jimmie A. Papageorge passed away at age 83 on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at his home. He was born on November 15, 1928 to Alexander and Anastasia Papageorge in Ogden and has lived his entire life in Farr West on the family dairy farm. He graduated from Weber High School. Jimmie married Kay Thomas on December 28, 1957.

He was a member of the Holstein Association, County, State and National for more than 50 years and was an official cattle judge, judging cattle across the United States. His pride and joy was working on his farm and breeding good cattle. Jimmie was the best calf feeder in the whole wide world.

Jimmie helped Farr West City incorporate and was the City''s 1st Mayor. He served as a councilman and was elected Mayor, serving his 19th year as Mayor at the time of his death. He loved his city and was so proud of it.

He served on the Bona Vista Water Improvement District since 1975. He was also on the Farr West Park District and the Farr West Sewer Improvement District. Jimmie was instrumental in getting the sewer system and secondary water for all of Farr West City. He served on the Weber County Blue Ribbon Committee and this committee helped get the New Weber County Fairgrounds. Jimmie was director and then President of Plain City Irrigation Company. He was on the Western Irrigation Company Board since 1951 and served 30 years as President. He was also a member of Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park Board. He was a member of the Ogden River Water Users Association Board.

Jimmie was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church. He helped get the church established in South Ogden and served on the board since 1964 and as President for many years.

He will be remembered for his generosity, honesty, work ethic and pride which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was happiest when he was helping others. He trusted everyone to be as honest as he was.

Jimmie is survived by his wife; children, Alex and Lori Papageorge and Christina and Bob Spronk; 2 grandchildren, Nicole and Robbie; 2 step grandsons, Cody Freston and Joel and Martha Freston; brother, Harry Papageorge and sisters, Mary Kogianes and Florence Blosser.

He was preceded in death by his parents and baby brother.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 674 42nd St, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. with Father Mario Giannopoulos officiating.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 674 42nd Street, South Ogden UT 84403.
