Joan Alfreds Barton

Joan Alfreds Barton, age 89, of Layton, Utah passed away January 3, 2018.  She was born September 12, 1928 in Norris Green, Liverpool, England to John Henry and Rebecca H. Alfreds.  The majority of Joan’s childhood was spent in Wallasey, England where she attended Oldershore Acadamy.  She immigrated to the United States in 1951, and married John Barton on June 26, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Joan touched many hearts throughout her life, and her sharp wit and innate kindness will be greatly missed by all.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Leslie Alfreds, her sister Vera L. Vaughan, and her spouse John.  She is survived by her three children: John Robert A. (Barbara) Barton, Judith B. Hales, and Richard A. (Anna) Barton; her five grandchildren: John Arron Barton, Allison C. (Jeremy) Martin, Jessica D. (Michael) Reynolds, James R. Barton, and Josslyn P. Barton; and her three great-grandchildren: Zachary J. Mecham, Sebastian O. Martin, and Ledger D. Martin.  Joan is also survived by her sister Moya Christey.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
