Joan Elizabeth Smith

March 13, 1956 ~ February 28, 2016

Joan Elizabeth Smith, 59, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016.  She was born March 13, 1956 in Gilman, Colorado, the daughter of Earnest Edward and Nina Lee Brandt Smith.  She lived in Colorado, Utah, Ireland, Washington, and California.

She won first place in her 9th grade spelling bee which was held at Clearfield High School where she later graduated in 1974.

Joan worked as a Records Clerk at the Internal Revenue Service before retiring in 2011 after 30 years.

She loved animals especially horses, cats, and chinchillas, as well as cooking and traveling. Most of all Joan loved her nieces and nephews, whom she doted on, and later their children, who she loved spending time with and spoiling more than anything else.

Joan is survived by her brother, Stephen Dale Smith, Everett, Washington; sisters, Linda Lee Inman, Lancaster, California; Lisa Ann Hamilton, Pflugerville, Texas; Marianne Bingham, Boulder City, Nevada; and again by her many beloved nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Walter Alfred and Charles Edward Smith.

A memorial graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd, with interment to follow.
