Joan R. Hansen
Joan R. Hansen, 74, peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on Monday, January 7, 2008.
She was born to Henry and Margaret Rose on December 4, 1933 in Ogden, Utah. She graduated from Ogden High School. She married O. Thomas Hansen 55 years ago in the Logan Temple.
Joan’s favorite thing was being a mother and homemaker. She had worked for the Marlon Hills Elementary as a bookkeeper and Accountant, at Amalgamated Sugar Company and IHC.
She was an active member of the LDS Church serving in all auxiliaries in the church.
Teaching the Sunbeams in Primary was her favorite calling. She was a loving and caring Bishop’s wife. She served four full-time missions with her companion.
They served in Nashville, TN; Jacksonville, FL; Salt Lake Temple Square; and Honolulu, Hawaii. They met many new friends, touched many hearts, and set a great example of service for their grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband Tom, one son and three daughters: Dale, Susan (Martin) Strong, Deanne (Daurel) Barnes, Sharon (Kent) Brown. She has one sister Janice Clyde, 15 adoring grandchildren and three great-grandchildren who know her as “Pama-Great.”
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Canyon View Stake Center, 9119 S. 1300 E., Sandy, Utah and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Bear River Cemetery.
