Joan Langford

Joan Tullis Langford

July 15, 1929 – March 19, 2014

Joan Tullis Langford, 84, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014.  She was born to Milo Tullis and Verda May Shaw in Ogden, Utah.   She grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1947. 

Joan married Ernest Fount Langford on June 13, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She loved her grandkids and enjoyed babysitting and spoiling them. She was an avid yard seller and loved going to thrift stores.  All the kids and grandkids enjoyed the fruits of her shopping prowess.  Ernie and Joan built a beautiful cabin in Causey Estates where they as well as kids, grandkids and friends, enjoyed nature and fun family get togethers.   

Joan was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She and Ernie served an 18 month mission at the Ogden LDS Employment Services Mission.

She worked for 25 years at Hill Air Force Base as an Aircraft Instrument Mechanic. 

Joan is survived by her husband, children, Diane (Bill) Grubbs, Russell (Debbie) Langford, Marlene (Dan) Anderson, David (Donna) Langford, Julie (Eric) Peterson, Bonnie (Rich) Hyer, and Bret (Jena) Langford.  She is also survived by her sisters, Marion Higgs, Carol Gale, Barbara Tullis, Sherelyn Jensen, and Joyce Dawson and one brother, Paul Tullis as well as 40 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, infant brother, Don Shaw Tullis; daughters-in-law, Delma Langford and Charlotte Langford; granddaughters, Sara Lee Langford and Jessica Paige Johnson and a great-granddaughter, Halle Christine Garrett. 

The immediate family held a dedication of the grave and burial on Friday at Aultorest Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the LDS Church, 1560 N. 200 W., Harrisville. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the Memorial Service. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.

The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful nurses and caregivers at Legacy House Ogden.  We are also grateful to the doctors and nurses from Intermountain Hospice who were so kind patient and loving to Joan and her family.
