Joan Byard Wall

“Nana”

Joan Byard Wall “Nana” age 82, passed away at her home October 10, 2015, surrounded by her family. Joan was born September 30, 1933 in San Diego, California to Harold Bernard Massey and Hazel Byard James. Living in Southern California the majority of her growing up years, she was a member of the “Church of the Beach” and Catalina Island was her summer home. With the influence of a few friends she jumped ship to attend BYU.  There she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and met Gary Little Wall. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on January 5, 1954 and raised their family in both Southern California and Bountiful, Utah.

Nana was lovingly adored by all.  Her home and heart were always a haven from the cares of the world. She loved to have long chats with anyone who stopped in, and always knew what to say to make you feel better about life. Her greatest achievement was her family, and all efforts were in support of them; whether it was serving in the community or faithfully fulfilling a variety of church callings. Her testimony through words and actions are what made her a perfect example of Christ like love.

Joan is survived by her husband, Gary, children: Scott (Marsha) Wall, Kim Wall, Brian (Julie) Wall,  Keith (Corinne) Wall,  Jodi (Eric) Russell, Lisa Wall, and Jon (Yvonne) Wall, 50 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, brother, Robert Massey and many extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Megan, and grandson Ben.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015, 11:00 am at the Bountiful South Stake Center, 1250 S Main St.  Friends may visit family Friday, Oct. 16th from 6-8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N 400 E., and Saturday, from 9:30 to 10:30 at the Stake Center. Interment will follow at the Bountiful City Cemetery. The family would like to thank the many people who have assisted in the care of Joan through the last few years.
