Joan Faye Wilde Williamson
February 25, 1926 ~ October 18, 2014
Joan Faye Wilde Williamson, age 88, passed away peacefully at McKay-Dee Hospital surrounded by family the morning of October 18, 2014 , due to causes incident with age.
Joan was born in Baneville, Montana, on February 25, 1926 to Vera and Leslie Wilde. She obtained her teaching certificate from Havre, Montana and taught in a one-room-schoolhouse. She married James Williamson on June 5, 1948 in Dodson, Montana. When Jim was transferred from closing Glasgow Air Force Base to Hill AFB in 1964 she and Jim moved their entire family to Ogden, Utah. Her children are well-remembered at Ogden High School and other area schools.
Joan was beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an avid letter-writer, keeping in touch with her loved ones wherever they went in the world. And we all looked forward each year to her Christmas poem which included news of every son and daughter and their families. She was a zealous Utah Jazz fan.
Joan is survived by her brother, Robert Wilde; her sons and daughters, Judith Tassone, James (Cathleen), Jean (John) Underwood, Juanita “Nita” (Charles) Vono, Janet Moore, Julia (Wayne) Bauer, Jeffrey (Taunya), Jennifer (Grady) Hubbart, Jarold (Antoinette), and Joel; 29 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her infant son John and daughter Joanna; her brothers, Willard Wilde and Gene Wilde; and sisters, Betty Gallagher and Maxine Cherry.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated October 20, 2014 at Saint James the Just Catholic Church in Ogden at 11a.m. All are welcome. Interment Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
