JoAnn Kunzler Griffiths

JoAnn K. Griffiths, age 63, of Layton, Utah passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017, after a year- long battle with brain cancer.

She was born in Tremonton, Utah on February 19, 1954 to Max and Phyllis (Udy) Kunzler of Park Valley, Utah. She graduated from Bear River High school, and received her degree in nursing from Weber State.

She married Andrew D. Griffiths of Ogden, Utah on December 10, 1976 in the Ogden, Utah LDS temple.

JoAnn was an active and devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in the church in many capacities including ward and stake Relief Society president. She was grateful for these opportunities to serve.

She was as a nurse for McKay-Dee Hospital for over 40 years. She worked in the hospital, home health, and the last 20 years of her career as a recovery nurse at the surgical center. She loved being a nurse and was often told by those she worked with and her patients, that she was one of the best.

She enjoyed traveling and always loved to go somewhere warm in the winter. Her true love was her family, she enjoyed spending time with her children, siblings, extended family, and especially her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandma and truly found joy in having her grandkids around her.

JoAnn is survived by her husband Andy, her three daughters Andrea (Ryan), Jennifer (Dean), Melanie (Spencer), her two sisters, four brothers, and 11 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Layton North Stake Center, 1954 E. Antelope Drive, Layton.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church.  Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made in her name to the General Missionary Fund of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
