JoAnn J. Reese
SOUTH OGDEN - JoAnn Jones Reese, 75, died Friday, October 2, 2009 in Cameron, Arizona as a result of a car accident.
She was born February 16, 1934 in Ogden, Utah, a daughter of Wallace D. and Thelma G. Jones.
She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School.
On March 18, 1955, JoAnn married William M. Reese in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She lived in Ogden and Roy, spent four years in Japan and two years in Germany, and finally came to live in South Ogden.
JoAnn was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She held various positions in her church including Relief Society teacher, counselor and president. She had been a primary in-service leader and worked in the Young Women program, on both the Ward and Stake levels.
She worked at the Bon Marche as a clothing bookkeeper, a salesperson, and in the receiving room. She also decorated the windows of a lingerie store in Roy.
JoAnn taught at Page’s Pre-School and loved the children there. She was active in the PTA for many years and painted murals at Lakeview Elementary School and Roy High School.
Her hobbies included oil painting, decorating, quilting, and flower arranging. She loved to do genealogy work. Her family always came first, and she loved doing things for them most of all.
She is survived by her husband of South Ogden; two sons, W. Rick (Catherine) Reese, and Riko (JoAnn) Reese; and a daughter, Jana (Sergio) De Souza; as well as her sister, Joyce (Joe) Tippetts; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 12th at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 5th Ward Chapel, 5735 So. Crestwood Drive.
Family will greet friends Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Monday at the Ward Chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
