JoAnn Wiser Weaver, aged 86, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2024, in South Ogden, Utah. Born on April 24, 1938, JoAnn was known for her roles as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was deeply enthusiastic about writing, poetry, reading, and continual learning, which was reflected in her daily life and interactions with others.
JoAnn attended Mendon Elementary, Wellsville Junior High, and graduated from South Cache High School. She pursued further education at the University of Utah, enriching her love for knowledge. Although she did part-time work as a family counselor with Behavioral Genetics, JoAnn found her true calling in being a devoted stay-at-home mother and wife, nurturing her family with unconditional love and care.
She was a faithful member of the LDS Church, where she found spiritual solace and community. JoAnn proudly served an LDS Mission in Central Germany from 1963-1965, and she shared her experiences of her mission throughout her lifetime. Her hobbies included writing, poetry, reading and art, which were not only her pastimes but also significant aspects of her self-development and expression.
JoAnn is survived by her loving daughter Cindy Chartier and husband, Paul; grandsons Benjamin and Nathan Humenberger, Nathan’s wife Shelbie; and great-grandson William Humenberger. She also leaves behind her sister Mayvon Platt and husband Ron; brother Demont Wiser and wife Karen; sister-in-law Dixie Clark; companion and best friend Max Montgomery, and numerous nieces and nephews. JoAnn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Weaver; her father, Devon Wiser; mother, May Elizabeth Wiser; and brothers Clayne, Brant, Eugene, and Brice Wiser.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday October 9, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton, Mortuary 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. Layton, Utah. Friends may visit with family Tuesday October 8, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment-Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be considered for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at alzfdn.org, honoring JoAnn’s compassionate spirit.
