Joanne Bair Peek
May 7, 1943 ~ September 29, 2017
Joanne Bair Peek, age 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Ogden, Utah, surrounded by her loving family and special friend, Brother Dan Buttars, on September 29, 2017.
Joanne was born to Raymond “Cub” Bair and Genet Stephensen.
On January 8, 1960, she married the love of her life, Benjamin L. Peek. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Bountiful LDS Temple. Through this union, Debra, Marsha and Thomas were born. Joanne’s children were her greatest joy. Joanne was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Mom had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She gave good advice and always had a listening ear. She loved to read, cook and spend time with her family. Mom also loved and embraced the gospel which brought her great comfort.
Joanne was preceded in death by her loving parents; her twin sister, Jeanne Smith; nephew, Gene Smith; and niece, Genet Larkin.
She is survived by her husband, Ben; their daughters, Debra (Bill) Norton; Marsha Martin; and their son, Thomas Peek (David Salazar); her sister, Carolyn (Darrell) Spiers; brother-in-law, Dale Smith; grandchildren, Shea Stireman, Sage Stireman (McKinlee Westmoreland), Sean Peek; and great-granddaughter, Wesley Jo Beretti. Joanne is also survived by many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Brighton Hospice, and especially Jeannie, Beth, Madi, Valerie and Sunni. Your gentle care and kindness helped us through our difficult times.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
