JoAnne Hipwell Woodland

JoAnne Hipwell Woodland passed away surrounded by all of her family on Sunday, July 29, 2012, at McKay Dee Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born on June 5, 1931, in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Henry and Ethel Stanford. JoAnne grew up in West Ogden, attending Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School.

JoAnne enjoyed supporting her children in all kinds of sports. She served as a Plain City Junior Posse leader for many years. She was a member of the LDS Church and served in various callings. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy; they spent several of their childhood days playing at her house. Great-grandkids also shared the same kind of love and attention at Great-grandma''s.

After Elmer passed away, JoAnne married Eugene Woodland. JoAnne and Gene lived for several years in Oklahoma and spent the winters in Yuma, Arizona. Just this last year, they returned back home to Plain City to live.

JoAnne is survived by her two sons and daughter, Scott and Chris Hipwell, Plain City; Kelly and Janet Hipwell, Plain City and Blair and Susan Hancock, West Weber; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 3 stepchildren, Marty and David Lilley, Oklahoma; Paulette and Paul Hanks, Oklahoma; and Chad Woodland, Arizona; 4 step-grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren; sister, Janet and Ed Malmgren; sisters-in-law, Elsie Costley and Ruth Charlton; and brother and sister-in-law, Arlene and Grant Boyce.
