Joe Vincent Martinez

March 19, 1945 ~ January 12, 2017

Our beloved Papa Joe passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at the age of 71.

He was born to Victoriana Valdez Martinez and Trancito Martinez on March 19, 1945 in Tierra Amarrilla, New Mexico. He was raised by his beloved 'Mamacita', Carlotta Valdez and 'Papacito' Julio Valdez.

He is survived by his soul mate and love of his life, Susan Jeanne Mower Martinez. They married on July 14, 1964.

He worked as a Journeyman for Utah Power and Light for over 30 years.

He made many great friends throughout his career. He was loved by so many and brought happiness and laughter everywhere he went. We will miss his sarcasm, infectious laughter and wise cracks. He was the biggest tease, but everyone knew he had the biggest heart and best intentions for all. He had a special way of finding the best in people. His great sense of style made him a very unique person. Between his snake skin boots, leather vests, and big beautiful jewelry pieces you couldn't miss him. He had a love of Elvis Presley and was an amazing impersonator. He sang and played the guitar and had a passion for entertaining people. He loved to ride his Harley all decked out in his leathers and gear. His greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren; he loved them more than life itself.

He is survived by his two children, Kelly Joe Martinez and Melanie Anne (Aaron) Flint; eight grandchildren: Kelsei Rae (Mike) Martinez, Dillon Joe (Shelbee) Flint, Mason Martinez, Bailee Anne Flint, Presli Martinez, Rylee Erin Flint, Jace Paul Flint, Jaxon Noel Flint and great-grandaughter, Elinee Joe Flint. He had a great love and strong relationship with all his brothers and sisters. His surviving siblings are Roberto (Stella) Martinez, Steve (Joan) Martinez, Francis (Tom) Suazo, Irene Valdez, Gilbert (Geraldine) Valdez, Maria (Robert) Garcia, Eddy (Kathy) Valdez, Carlotta (Dan) Gomez. He was close to all his in-laws (the Mower's) they loved him and he loved them just like his very own family. He was also a favorite Uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was well loved by his cousins and considered some of them like brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his sister Eva (Agripino) Sanchez (passed away in 1995).

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
