Joe E Matteucci
HARRISVILLE – Joe E Matteucci left us on Friday, June 15, 2007 to be with his beloved wife Shirley, who has been waiting for him for 23 years. He peacefully lost his battle with lung cancer while watching the U.S. Open, surrounded by his loving daughters.
Dad was born to Alberico and Carla Andrus Matteucci on September 13, 1944. He was raised in Ogden, Utah then spent many years in California where he met the love of his life, Shirley, and her three daughters. He brought them back to Utah in 1975 as his new family. Together they had a beautiful baby girl, Kari. Shirley preceded him in death on November 1, 1983.
Dad enjoyed many things in life. He enjoyed fishing anywhere but spent most of his time on the Weber River. He took his family many places to camp. He enjoyed being on the golf course and watching all sports on TV. But most of all, he enjoyed being surrounded by his family.
Dad had many friends and touched all who knew him. He was best known for his tall frame, gruff voice and teddy-bear heart. In 1999, Dad retired from Weber County School District. Prior to that, he spent many years as an iron worker and roofer.
Surviving are his four daughters: Kari Matteucci of Harrisville; Trish Carlin of Syracuse; Joanna (Danny) Stephens of Roy; Dawn Martin of Roy; his seven grandchildren: Dallas, David, Wendi, Desiree, Kylee Jo, Jordan, and Morgan; his two great-grandsons: Jerek and Logan.
Also surviving are his father and stepmother, Alberico and Kay Matteucci; six sisters and two brothers: Peggy (Jerry) Harris, Kenny (Eve) Matteucci, Rena Wigley, Ronnie Duncombe, Debbie (John) Jones, Shelly (Bob) Dockstader, Kathy (Mike) Allred, and Julie Flitton.
Preceding Joe in death were his wife Shirley, mother Carla Duncombe, stepfather Bill Duncombe and brother Carl Matteucci.
His daughters would like to express their deepest gratitude to Alpine Hospice for the care and attention they gave to Dad. A special heart-felt thank you to Andrea (CNA) for the loving dedication she gave and the smile she brought with her that brightened his last days.
We love you Dad, hug Mom for us.
