Joe R Munos

September 26, 1933 — February 18, 2025

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Joe R. Munos, passed away peacefully at his home in Pleasant View, Utah, surrounded by loved ones on February 18, 2025.

Joe is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy; sons, Tom and Mike; daughters, Cathy and Jill; grandchildren, Rose, Mallory, Ian, Johnathan, Christian, Jordan, Thomas, Jay and Daniel.

Born on September 26, 1933, in San Antonio, Joe called Texas home for most of his life.

As an E-6 Petty Officer First Class, Joe spent 26 years in the US Navy and Navy Reserves witnessing two nuclear tests, one being Castle Bravo at Bikini Atoll in 1954, the largest thermonuclear device ever detonated by the US.

In 1959 Joe married Rita and had three children, Tom, Mike, and Cathy, and later divorced in 1978. During and after the Navy Joe worked for Texas Automatic Sprinklers for 32 years in San Antonio.

Joe met Judy and her daughter Jill in 1980, he fell madly in love with both and married Judy in 1982. In 1990 they moved to Yakima, Washington, where Joe worked for the City of Yakima Human Resources Department. After retiring from the City of Yakima, they both moved to Olympia Washington where Joe worked his final job in English as a Second Language Teacher for the Olympia School District.

While in Olympia Joe and Judy had the best times of their lives boating in the southern Puget Sound. Joe loved to fish, hunt, golf, and play tennis.

In 2019 Joe and Judy moved to Pleasant View, Utah, to spend the rest of their years with daughter Jill and her husband Scott and their three children Rose, Mallory, and Ian.

Unfortunately, Joe was diagnosed with Parkinsons and finally lost the 7-year battle with that horrible disease. Joe was a good Christian man; he told stories about his life to the men in his Men’s Ministry group for the last 6 years. He had everyone’s respect and gratitude from meeting, listening, and knowing him.

Joe, we all love you and miss you very much! We know that you are sitting by God’s side with your body and mind renewed. Godspeed, till we meet again!
