Our husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Joseph Robert Torman, age 46, passed away on July 29, 2023 as a result of an automobile accident. He lived an extraordinary life and was fiercely loved.
Joseph Robert Torman was born on January 8, 1977 to loving parents Reed and Kathy (Osmond) Torman in Ogden, Utah. He had a childhood filled with trucks, bikes, booby traps, and mountains of Legos. His genius flourished - from forts to frog farms to fantastic films using a giant VHS recorder. Joe attended H. Guy Child Elementary, South Ogden Jr. High, and Bonneville High School. His enthusiasm, laughter, and practical jokes drew in many lifetime friends. Many of his teachers both loved and were exhausted by him. Joe served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bangkok, Thailand, where he developed a deep love for the people and the country.
Joe earned a bachelor’s degree from BYU in Construction Management. It was there that he met the love of his life. They were married and together consider their family their greatest treasure. During his 21 years of marriage, he built four family homes and was always building as a way of serving those around him. Joe led his family in principles of faith, joy, hard work, and love. He embodied his testimony and taught his children to press forward and have the courage to work through hard things.
Joe served as a President of the Lotus Company. Among the Lotus team, Joe was strongly admired and renowned for his patient mentoring of everyone he worked with. Joe was kind, generous, and friendly. He loved adventures and animals, but mostly he loved people. Joe valued his connections with friends in his neighborhood, community and work that includes associations around the world.
Joe is survived by his wife and children; his parents, Reed and Kathy Torman; his siblings, Kami (Tracy) Nielsen, Chris (Amy) Torman, and Josh (Megan) Torman; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
