Jose (Joe) Frutoso Velasquez

LAYTON a€" Jose (Joe) Frutoso Velasquez, 83, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Ogden Regional Hospital. He was born in Ensenada, NM on June 24, 1926, the son of Jose Enetro and Delfina Gallegos Velasquez.

Joe moved to Utah in 1960 where he was a barber for 50 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in WWII. Joe married Enid Aileen Brown on January 11, 1976 and was a member of the Catholic Church. He loved fishing, golfing, camping, and trips to Wendover. He loved and adored his family and enjoyed spending time with them.

He is survived by his wife Enid, sons Joseph (Roberta) Velasquez, Daniel Velasquez, Paul (Gerri) Velasquez, Sam (Phyllis) Aragon; daughters: Debbie Martinez, Lisa (Rory) Davies, Lucy Segura; 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, brother Isaac (Sylvia) Velasquez, and sister Adelia Polaco. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel, Layton, UT. Friends and family may call Monday from 6-7:30 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. where military honors will be accorded.
