WASHINGTON TERRACE a€" Johanna A. Fassotte, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Legacy House of Ogden in Washington Terrace.

She was born July 17, 1919 in Delft, the Netherlands, a daughter of Johannes P. de Koning and Hendrika J. Rijnbeek.

Johanna married Hendricus (Hank) J. Fassotte on October 8, 1941 in Delft, the Netherlands. In February of 1957 the family immigrated to the United States settling in the Ogden area.

She loved to dance, listen to polka music and military marches. Later in life she learned and loved to play the organ. She was an excellent seamstress making her and the children''s clothes. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She looked forward to their many camping trips throughout the western states and especially Alaska.

Her dearly devoted husband Hank preceded her in death on February 21, 2009, also preceding her were four brothers, one sister, one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.

Johanna is survived by one son and two daughters, Joyce (Thomas) Dixon, LaVernia, TX; Johannes (Nid) Fassotte, Fairbanks, AK; and Ria (Ron) Smith, Roy, UT; sister Riek Hilkhuisen, Delft Netherlands as well as 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

"Sterven doe je niet ineens, maar af en toe een beetje. En alle beetjes die je sterft, het is vreemd, maar die vergeet je. Het is je dikwijls zelf ontgaan, je zegt: ik ben wat moe. Maar op een keer dan ben je aan je laatste beetje toe."

Special thanks are extended to Applegate Hospice for the loving care they provided to our mother. We also want to thank the staff at Legacy House for their continued care during her stay there, especially the staff in the Cottage.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 28 at 3:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
