John Adams, 79, passed away April 14, 2008 due to complications from a gunshot wound he received in 1993. He was born November 24, 1928 in Spokane, Washington to Earl and Louella Adams.
He was raised in Kentucky. He attended radio and electronics school in Chicago and worked for several years in Kentucky. Thirteen years later he returned to Spokane. For a living he worked on cars, traded them and sold used car parts. He liked to race his car and almost always beat the other car he was racing. He passed his journeyman carpenters'' exam. He remembered when the first televisions were sold and enjoys watching shows and movies very much. After moving to Salt Lake City he began working as a taxi cab driver for City Cab Company.
John had received two gunshot wounds in his head in 1993 from a young man who wanted to become a gang leader. He said he was a living miracle, although his entire left side was paralyzed. He believed there was purpose to this accident because while in the hospital, he met missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who taught and baptized him. John has many friends and said he just wanted to be remembered for being a good person; he has accomplished that desire.
He is survived by a son, John Christopher Adams who is currently serving in Iraq; one brother Evan G. Adams of Douglas, AZ; one sister Marva (Stanley) Goede of Spokane Valley, WA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul E. Adams.
Graveside services will be held 11 am Monday, April 21, 2008 at Bountiful City Cemetery 2224 S. 200 W. under the directions of Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary.
