John H. Barney

John H. Barney, 67, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at his home in West Haven, Utah.

He was born April 20, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah the son of Glen G. and Gertie VanLeeuwen Barney. John graduated from South High School, then served an LDS mission to New Zealand. After his mission, he served in the United States Air Force for 2 years; then started his career with the U.S. Postal Service, where he served for 42 years until he retired.

John married Cathryn Nichols. They later divorced. He married Paula Francom. They later divorced. He then married Karen Krocker with whom he spent 17 amazing years with until his passing. While employed at the U. S. Postal Service, John earned his counseling degree from the University of Utah. John touched so many lives in amazing and beautiful ways with his compassion, music, love and sense of humor. "Rabbit, We Love You! Rest in Bliss you beautiful Soul."

John is survived by his wife, Karen; son, Gavin (Britta) Barney; daughters, Heather (Nate) Adams, Brittany (Dan) McConkie, and Krishele (Jason) Duffin; stepchildren, Katherine Layton, Tami Barney (James Wall), D. Todd (Anna) Layton, Gina Richards and Cynthia Savoie; mother, Gertie Barney; brother, Stephen (Alice) Barney; sister, Colleen Barney; 20 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Condolences may be shared at www.lindquistmortuary.com
