John Barton

John Barton LAYTON – John Barton, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at McKay-Dee Hospital. He was born March 9, 1931 in Liverpool, England to Robert and Maria Brugnola Barton. John was reared and educated in Liverpool attending Liverpool Colligiate Schools and the Liverpool School of Technology. He spent two years with the Royal Engineers, serving in Malaya and Singapore, Immigrating to the U.S. in 1952 and married Joan Alfreds on June 26, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended Weber State University and the University of Utah. He retired from Hill Air Force Base as Senior Executive in November of 1986. He is survived by his wife Joan Alfreds Barton, three children: John Robert A. (Barbara) Barton, Judith Ann Hales, Richard A (Anna) Barton; five grandchildren: John Arron Barton, Allison C. (David) Mecham, Jessica D. Hales, James R. Barton, Josslyn P. Barton; one great-grandchild, Zachary J. Mecham. Also survived by his only sister Marie (Paul) Hansen. Private funeral services will be held under the direction of Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road.
