John (Jack) Blood Cook
LAYTON a" John Blood Cook passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
He was born January 21, 1923 in Ogden, Utah. He was the oldest son of David LaVerda (Vird) Cook and Annie Blood Cook.
He graduated from Davis High School in 1941. He joined the Army Air Corp and landed in North Africa, and later transferred to Italy. He was as an aircraft crew radio operator bringing the wounded from the front line to hospitals for treatment. This took him to the Balkans, Austria, France and all of North Africa. He later was in the United States Air Force Reserve for many years. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1948 with a degree in Business Management.
He served a mission for the LDS Church in the Northwestern States and Alaska. He married Mary Webster on December 6, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. He lived in Layton and worked at Hill Air Force Base. He served a Mission along with his wife in Israel as Special Representatives. He was Bishop of two wards, served on several High Councils, was a Ward Clerk, Gospel Doctrine teacher a devoted Home Teacher for many years, and a guide on Temple Square.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, daughter Julie Taucher, and two granddaughters, Melissa (Trevor) Denham, Megan (Kyle) Soules, and three great-grandsons, Cole, Travis and Dane Denham, also a very special niece, Lesa (Tom) Page. He has a brother David B. Cook (Sharon), sister-in-law Lois H. Cook. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard D. Cook.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Aspen Cove Ward, 789 Wasatch Dr., Layton. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
