John David Potter

January 2, 1939 — March 17, 2025

John David Potter, born January 2, 1939, passed away peacefully in his sleep March 17, 2025.

David was born to loving parents John Dean and Maisey Sandall Potter in Ogden Utah.

David lived most of his life in Farmington, being raised on the family cattle ranch.

Like all Potters before and since he started working on the family farm as soon as he was old enough, farming and cattle was the normal way of life.

On December 28, 1959, David married his high school sweetheart Patricia (Patty) Reeder in the Salt Lake City Temple, They were happily married for 65 years.

After graduating from Utah State University, David began his teaching career. He was the Agricultural Education teacher and FFA advisor for 26 years at Clearfield High School. Many of his students went on to great welding careers because of what they learned from him. Even with his full-time teaching career, including the summer months, David never shirked his farming responsibilities, coming home from work and straight to the farm.

After retirement in 1987, David devoted all his time to the farm and his family.

He could always be found working side by side with his father, brother, sons, and nephews, feeding the cattle, fixing fence, putting up hay and corn silage.

David is survived by his loving wife Patty, his three sons; John Leslie, Jay David (Susan), Paul Dean (Elizabeth), four grandchildren; Michael (Mariah), Kate, Austin, Clint and great-grandson Wade.

The family would like to thank the caring and loving staff of Avamere at Mountain Ridge for the love and help they have given to David for the last few months of his life.
