John G. Delis September 13, 1957 a€" March, 1 2013

John G. Delis, 55, of Las Vegas, NV passed away unexpectedly March 1, 2013. He was a loving son, father, brother and husband.

He was born in Ogden, Utah on September 13, 1957, to George G. and Angeline Thiros Delis, who were both proud second generation Greek-Americans. He graduated from Ogden High School, Weber State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Master of Business Administration Degree.

John worked as a civil servant for the Government for over 30 years. He worked for the Department of the Air Force at Hill Air Force Base in pricing and contracting. For the past 7 years he worked for the Department of Energy in Las Vegas in contracting and program management. John was extremely proud of his country and his government service.

He was a life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Church and was an Eagle Scout. He loved snow skiing, shooting, dirt bike riding, hunting, camping, fishing, sports cars, woodworking and spending time fishing and swimming with his son George. He had great love and compassion for his nieces and nephew.

John loved his son George more than anything on this earth. Both John and George loved their custom made swimming pool and the special lemon tree that John planted in memory of his father.

John had the warmest and most forgiving heart of anyone we know. He was always cheerful and greeted everyone with a big smile. May he rest in peace and may his memory be eternal.

Surviving are his wife, Anca; son, George; mother, Angeline; brother, Lieutenant Colonel U.S Army (Retired) Dean, wife, Janie; daughter, Angela; and son, Christopher residing in Cary, North Carolina; and brother, Bill; wife, Lesli; daughter, Mackenzie; and daughter, Sophia residing in Ogden, Utah.

He was preceded in death by his father George G. Delis.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. at Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 674 42nd Street, Ogden, Utah. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Trisagion prayer at 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, Ogden Utah.
