John Gallegos
June 23, 1929 ~ June 15, 2018
Friday, June 15, 2018, John Gallegos, with his daughter and son-in-law at his bed side, went to be with the Lord.
He was born June 23, 1929 in Owenyo, California to Pablo and Aniceta Gallegos.
Daddy was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church in West Haven Utah.
He loved hunting, fishing and camping so much that after retirement from HAFB, he and his wife became camp hosts for American Land and Leisure. Hosting at Flaming Gorge (Dutch John) for a couple of years until his wife passed in 1995. Then hosting at South Fork and the Willows camp ground in Ogden Canyon for many years. After he felt that he could no longer be a camp host he became a crossing guard for West Haven Elementary in West Haven. Seeing these children daily brought him so much joy. He was a Denver Bronco fan in a household of Raider fans. Whenever the Broncos were in the super bowl he would ware his Bronco attire and if they won he would buy the super bowl hat.
Daddy is survived by his children Sandra (Sam) Ernst, NJ; Mel (Alice) Gallegos, Ogden; Andrea (Lawrence) Martinez, West Haven; 6 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren so much, but when he saw his great-great grandchildren you could see the enormous love that he had for them because the biggest smile would come across his face. Three brothers, one sister and Captain, his white poodle. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife (Betty), sons (Junior and Dave Gallegos), grandson (Jonathan Shea Martinez) granddaughter (Starr Marie Hutchins) great-grandson (James Hutchins) and infant great-great grandson (Samuel), 2 brothers, 3 sisters and Princess his black miniature poodle.
A special thank you to Independence Hospice, especially nurse Marcie, chaplain, Shanna, aide, Cory, social workers Dan and Lindsey for their loving care and support.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal… LOVE… leaves a Memory no one can steal.
