John Cary Gilmore Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, John Cary Gilmore, passed away on Sunday, 3 August 2008, at McKay Dee Hospital, with family and friends at his side. He was born in Ogden, Utah on 28 January 1937 to David John and Norma Grant Gilmore. He was raised in Honeyville, Utah and graduated from Box Elder High School in 1955. He Joined the U.S. Navy in January 1955 and went on active duty after his high school graduation. He served three years and was medically discharged in 1958. He married Ann Fackrell in Ogden, Utah, on 15 July 1960. They have one son, Kelly. He worked 40 years of his adult life in auto parts, first at Bradshaw Auto Parts in Ogden and Brigham City and Gould Chrysler/Plymouth Long Beach, CA. He spent 22 years with Streator Chevrolet in Salt Lake City and 10 years with Gus Paulos Chevrolet in West Valley City, retiring in 1997. He loved hunting and fishing with his son, even after his arthritis made it difficult the past few years. He also enjoyed spending his winters with Ann in Earp CA/Parker AZ., where he made many friends and participated in horseshoe and shuffleboard tournaments. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ann, and his son John Kelly Gilmore, his daughter-in-law Julie, and his dearly loved grandson, Cameron. He is also survived by two brothers, Jed B. (Myra) Gilmore, St. George, UT, and David Jay Gilmore, Smithfield, UT. There is also a large extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews, who love him and will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law, Roger Grant and Marilyn Gilmore. Graveside services will be held Friday, August 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. at the Honeyville City Cemetery. Friends and family may call Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
