John Michael Hansen, 67, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008, at his home with his wife by his side.
He was born August 15, 1941, in Ogden, Utah, to Arthur and Violet Newey Hansen. He was educated in Ogden and graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College.
He married Colleen Carter on August 12, 1960, and they were later divorced. On May 23, 1970, John married Ann Tracy and became the father of her three children along with three of his own; they added another son which became Yours, Mine and Ours. John took on this responsibility the way he approached all things in his life, through hard work and dedication.
John and Ann raised not only children, but Quarter horses, and John also trained them with great success. He was a member of the AQHA and on the Board of Directors of the UQHA. He had served as a Vice-President and Secretary of the Wasatch Slopes Chariot Association.
He was an avid hunter, and one of his greatest loves was The Ranch in East Canyon. He taught this love of things to his family. He also served on the committee of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
John worked for Marquart and retired from Williams International, where he was Superintendent of Manufacturing.
He has been called to post. He made it down the stretch and past the finish line, a job well done. "We will miss you and always love you."
John is survived by his wife, Ann; his children, Arthur (Diane) Hansen, Ogden; Bart (Vicki) Amsler, West Point; Roberta (Jence) Jensen, South Ogden; Darrin (Sheri) Hansen, Morgan; Mike Hansen, Roy; twelve grandchildren, two great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; and a brother, Dale Hansen, West Weber.
