John T. Hardman “Jack”
September 5, 1916 – October 15, 2008
OGDEN – Our dear Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Husband and Friend, John Thomas Hardman, “Jack” passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 15, 2008, of causes incident to a long and wonderful journey on earth.
He was born September 5, 1916 and had just celebrated his 92nd birthday. With his sweetheart Julia by his side, he traveled throughout mortality, one of the kindest and caring spirits of our Heavenly Father.
John was born to George Leslie and Hazel Heath Hardman and was raised and educated in Salt Lake City.
Dad married Mom, Julia Jessop, on January 27, 1940 in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Dad was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully for many years in any calling he was asked to do.
Dad worked for the Coca Cola Company, starting in Salt Lake City and moving to Ogden where he worked for 40 years before retiring.
His retirement brought him years of enjoying golf and fishing trips with friends and sons. He often said he didn’t know how he used to have time to work because he was so busy being retired!
Our Dad loved the United States of America, having served with the U.S. Army during World War II and he remained friends with many of his Army buddies throughout the years; many passed away which left Jack to reminisce about the experiences of war; it brought him great pride to know that he had served his country well.
Dad and Mom lived many years on Ogden Avenue; they built their own home on Edvalson, one dollar at a time; they moved in 1969 to Uintah; each place they lived they grew “great treasures of friends”; our love extends to all of them and their devotion to Mom and Dad throughout the years. You made our parents lives full of joy and happiness.
Grandpa was one of his favorite names and he cherished each and every one of his grandchildren. As his posterity grew, he marveled at the sounds of little great-grandchildren visiting him.
Dad could never let you go without letting you know how much he loved and appreciated all that you did for him, even the smallest kindness was never overlooked by Dad.
His legacy will live on through his family – his wife, Julia J. Hardman, Ogden; sons, Jack (Patti) Hardman, Kalispell, MT; David B. (Mary) Hardman, South Ogden; George (Sue) Hardman, West Point; Robert (Norma) Hardman, Clearfield; sister-in-law, June Jessop, 12 grandchildren and15 great-grandchildren with two more on their way.
A tribute to our Dad will be held Saturday, October 18 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
Our sincere appreciation to our great friend, Dr. Gary Christensen, whose kindness matches only that of our Dad, and Sarah Flint who has given Dad and Mom much TLC over the last many years.
