John Z. Kuilowski

John Z. Kuilowski, 89 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 17, 2009.

He was born November 17, 1919 in Skole, Poland to Jan and Janina Wittner Kuilowski and raised as an only child. At the age of 18 he was captured by the Russian Army and sent to Siberian prison camp where he was forced to work on the Trans-Siberian Railroad. After his release he joined the airforce which took him to Weston-Super-Mare, England. It was there he met his wife Eunice Armstrong. They were married March 5, 1945.

John and Eunice immigrated from England to Cardston, Alberta in 1952. John opened a portrait studio in Canada which began a lifelong love of photography. He later worked in a camera shop in San Bernadino, California. John and Eunice have also lived in Portland, Oregon, Boise, Idaho and Salt Lake City. They have spent the last 44 years in Ogden. John also worked for the Forest Service as an aerial photographer and mapmaker.

As a young man John loved to ski. Later in life he enjoyed his garden and spent many hours lying in the shade of his favorite cherry tree. Everyone who knew John knew that he loved to talk and visit with people.

John is survived by his wife, Eunice; their three children, Marsha (Gene) Hong, Wooster, OH; Mark Kuilowski, Ogden; Michelle (Doug) Roskelley, Huntsville; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to all the many wonderful caregivers at Crestwood Care Center for their years of loving service.

Graveside services will be held Monday, June 22nd at 10:00 a.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
