John Thomas Lewis

John Thomas Lewis, age 83, passed away October 29, 2021, in Layton, Utah at Pheasant View Assisted Living.  John was born July 13, 1938, to Laura (Dot) Fry Lewis and John Dorel Lewis in Porterville, Utah.  John was the second of four children, older sister Ruth, sister LouElla and brother Derwood.  He was a graduate of Morgan High School in 1956.

John worked at Hill Air Force base as an Aircraft Sheet Metal Foreman for 30 years and retired in 1994.  After retirement, he was a bus driver for the Davis County School District, where he enjoyed the kids, and the association he had with the other bus drivers.  John and his brother-in-law Dee Durrant opened Dee-Jon Custom Upholstery in 1961 and were in business for 40 years.  He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, golfing, and his service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and in the Bountiful Utah Temple.

In December 1988, he married Thora Louise Adams Hansen, adding six more children to his five children and a growing number of grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife, Thora Louise Lewis, children; Katreena Peterson (Dean); Dara Lewis, Annette Lewis, Thomas Lewis (Carolyn), Brian Lewis, Kirk Hansen (Lou Ann); Malinda (deceased) (John Allred), Heidi Godfrey (Kirk); Jill Jensen (Del); Joel Hansen, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, by wives Jeanette Nielsen, (the mother of his children); Linda Wade; sister LouElla Durrant; daughter Malinda Allred and son Guy Hansen.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 4, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd., Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit with family from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services.
