Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Roy Lilly, 91, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2012 in South Ogden. He was born on May 19, 1921 in Omaha, Nebraska to Alex W. and Ina Gretzinger Lilly. He was raised and attended schools in Nebraska. In 1933, he moved to Ogden, Utah. He joined the Utah Army National Guard in 1939 then was activated to serve our country in World War II with the 760th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a member of the Utah National Guard for 42 years. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for 36 years and a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
On June 29, 1946 he married the love of his life Naomi E. Sanders in Ogden, Utah at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church, where they are members. They recently observed their 66th anniversary. Together they raised three children.
He was a licensed pilot; he loved nothing more than flying his plane. He also loved building and flying RC airplanes. He owned the Home Supply Company.
Roy is survived by his loving wife, Naomi; sons, Rodney (Janet) Lilly of Roy and Roger (Peggy) Lilly of South Ogden; daughter, Bonnie (Mel) Roche of Roy; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex W. Lilly and Ina and William Berg and sisters, Lois Stewart and Ruth McGoy.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 atA¬ 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul''s Lutheran Church, 33rd and Harrison. Friends may visit with family that morning from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to the George E. Wahlen Veteran''s Home.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Manor Care for their loving care.
