John J. Malouf
OGDEN – Johnny J. Malouf passed away peacefully, in the presence of his loving family, on Sunday, March 22, 2009.
He was born at the family home in Ogden, on June 12, 1932, to John S. and Alice Jenkins Malouf, the fifth of eight children. John was raised and educated in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School in 1950.
John was industrious and a hard worker. He began his first business, during World War II, selling and delivering rabbits from his red wagon.
John served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He attended Utah State University and graduated from Weber State College with a degree in accounting.
John began his career at Hill Air Force Base in the computer science field, and was one of five selected for a graduate Logistics Management Course at Wright-Patterson AFB. John and his family spent a year in Ohio in order for John to complete the course where he received a Masters Degree. In 1974, John assumed the duties as Chief of Defense Depot Management Systems Division in Ogden. He worked at DDO until his retirement in 1990.
While working at HAFB, John fell in love with his secretary, Carole Jean Kennedy. They were married November 8, 1958. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Mitzi, Linda, Suzette and John. They enjoyed 29 years together, before Carole Jean passed away in 1988.
John found sanctuary in gardening, and was not afraid of a little neighborly competition with his tomatoes. He loved to fish and hunt with his dogs, and could spot a pheasant from a mile away. He enjoyed many happy years in the company of his very special friend, Becky Weaver, golfing and traveling.
John is survived by his daughters, Mitzi Chadwick, and Linda (Barry) Edwards, both of Ogden; Suzette (Don) Baldazo, Eagle, ID; son, John (Andrea) Malouf, Salt Lake City; and eight grandchildren, Andy, Annalee, Carli, Landon, Sam, Ben, Sara, and J.J.
John is also survived by two sisters, Ellen (Ralph) Williams and Sara Janice Grajek, and a brother, Edward.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Carole Jean, brothers, Murray and Jerry, and sisters, Leatha and LaVon.
