John J. Martinez

John J. Martinez 1920-2011 John J. Martinez passed away September 3, 2011, at the age of 91 in Phoenix, Arizona. He was born on March 27, 1920 in Dulce, New Mexico to Eleanor and Zacharias Martinez. He served in WWII, and retired from H.A.F.B. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing, and he was a great marksman. He married Esther Vialpando of Chama, Colorado and moved to Layton, Utah. They were married for 58 years. He is survived by his children: Eleanor Martinez, Elizabeth (Steve) Lintner, Charlotte Martinez, John (Cathy) Martinez, Frank (Bobbie) Martinez, sister Phoebe Vialpando, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Esther, his parents Eleanor and Zacharias, brothers, Eli, Michael (Mickey), Max (Donna), Zacharias Jr., and sisters, Julia Lovato, Lena Gonzales, and Juanita (Jenny) Martinez, granddaughter June Darling Connell, and great-granddaughter Lisa Vigil Hunsaker. Graveside service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., with Fr. Gallegos of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church officiating. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
