John Nielsen

John Wesley Nielsen Jr.

Our beloved father passed away on December 7, 2017.

He was born August 12, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to John and Ella Nielsen. He is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine B. (Glaus) Nielsen, his parents, his brother Jerry Nielsen, and his half-sister, Helen Churchill.

He is survived by his children Wes (Jan) Nielsen, Karen (Mark) Borski, and Doug (Natalie) Nielsen and his ten grandchildren Katie, Linzie (Bruce) Stephens, Kelli, Jamie, Stratton (Erin) Nielsen, Kyrian, Ambryan, Taggart, Colby, and Logan.

John graduated from West High School and later attended the University of Utah. He was in the US Navy, and he served on the USS Iowa. He married his sweetheart, Lorraine on May 13, 1957.

He worked for Union Pacific RR  as an Electrician and retired after 42 years. He was a past president of the UPRR Old Timers Auxiliary Club #12. He adored his kids and his grandkids. He loved spending time at his condo in Mesquite, NV, and camping in the Tetons. He loved his “Target Coffee Group” of friends who got together daily.

His family would like to thank all of his wonderful neighbors and a special thank you to Ken and Peggy Mills.  We love our dad and grandpa and will miss his positive outlook on life.

A visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 from 6-8pm and Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 9:30– 10:30 am at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. with funeral services following at 11:00 am.  Interment Bountiful Memorial Park.
