Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and hero, John B. Sherfy, Jr. passed from this life into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
John was born in Washington D.C. on March 2, 1924 to John Browning Sherfy and Helen Dorothy Didway.
He married the love of his life, Beatrice G. Wismer on April 12, 1948.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1941 and spent the next 30 years as a Navy pilot.
John served honorably in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
He retired on July 1, 1971 having achieved the rank of Commander.
John is survived by his two daughters, Lynn B. (Bert) Ekstrom and Kris B. (Jeff) Henderson; eight grandchildren; 4 A¾ great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Crush.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Beatrice.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 4th at 11 a.m. at the Ben Lomond/ North Ogden Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
Family will greet friends Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Tuesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Dad, you lived your life to the fullest. You taught us how to enjoy life, to love family, and to never quit learning. We will miss you and take solace in knowing we will be together again.
