John “Chris” Silva

John “Chris” Silva, 87, of Ogden, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 surrounded by family. He was born May 5, 1930 to Juan Miguel and Della Trujillo in Trinidad, CO.
Chris served in the US Navy as a torpedo man on the USS Brinkley-Bass during the Korean War.
He married DeLoris Blair and through this union they had five children. They later divorced.
Chris worked at D.D.O. in Ogden, where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator. He retired with 37 years of Federal Service. He was also a proud member and prior Post Commander of the American Legion Baker-Merrill Post #9. Chris was very active in the community, and in early years a strong supporter and member of S.O.C.I.O and WCOSSO.
His favorite pastimes were dancing, traveling, playing cards, and watching the Broncos and Yankees on TV.
Chris is survived by four daughters, Kathy Silva, Alma (Pat) Birkel, Lori (Les) Thompson, and Audrey (Ruben) Martinez; and one son, Jerry Silva. In addition, he is survived by twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mike, Don, Raymond, Steven, Evelyn, Manuel, Victor, and Charlee.
Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 514 24th St., Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with Holy Rosary at 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd., Ogden.
