John “Jack” G. Tilly
OGDEN – Our loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John “Jack” G. Tilly, 85, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at a local care center in Ogden.
He was born June 29, 1923 in Faribault, Minnesota, a son of John and Eva Thune Tilly.
On May 24, 1947, Jack married Annabelle Ruth Chapman in Faribault Minnesota. Annabelle preceded Jack in death on July 25, 2002.
He was raised and educated in Faribault, Minnesota and lived in the Clearfield and Layton areas since 1969.
Jack was a member of the Catholic Church.
He proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II where he was the recipient of two Bronze Stars.
Jack retired from Albertsons where he worked as a baker for many years.
He was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He also served with the Honor Guard for the V.F.W. Post 1481. Jack loved to go hunting and fishing.
Surviving are four daughters, Kathryn Kletschka, St. Peter, MN; Mary (Rick) Vogt, Deep Haven, MN; Joan (Ron) Moon, North Ogden, UT; Cheryl (Mike) Baker, Clearfield, UT; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Pat Tilly, Syracuse, UT; and Jim Tilly, Clearfield, UT.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one great-grandson and one nephew.
The family expresses thanks to the staff at Aspen Care Center Alzheimer’s Unit for the loving care they gave to our Dad for the past five and a half years.
Dad, we love you and we will miss you.
Graveside services will be held Friday, August 29, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota where Military Honors will be accorded.
