John W. Trease

John W. Trease was born February 18, 1912 in Blackpine, Idaho, one of 14 children, to John Wesley and Jesse Showalter Trease. He passed away peacefully on Friday, February 15, 2008 at his home.

On September 18, 1933, he married Sarah E. Van Orden (deceased) and was later sealed to her in the Ogden LDS Temple. He married Jesse Van Orden Bouwhuis Darley Trease on February 2, 1981, (deceased). He had eight children, 23 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

He maintained a fond love of baseball and boxing. He worked at the Ogden Arsenal and later Hill Air Force Base, retiring after 33 years of service. He has held numerous positions in the LDS Church including, the Bishopric of the Hooper 4th Ward. His fondest times were spent with his grandchildren to include six, five generations of Trease boys.

John has always put his family first, working most of the time at two jobs, hauling coal before and after a full day at the Arsenal/HAFB. When coal faded out you could always find him pumping gas at Dan''s Service in Hooper any evening for a good conversation or bring you up to speed on the currents events. You would never enter his home without being asked to eat and insuring you had enough to eat.

His children are Jay William (Bill) Trease (deceased), Dan and Nedra Trease, Hooper; Royce and Arlene Ross, West Point; Joe and Sharon Trease, Sunset; Steve and Karl Ann Trease, St. George; Dale and Marie Trease, Hooper; Harry and Bev Trease, West Point; and Sid and Marilyn Bodily, Willard.
