John Onesimo Trujillo

May 8, 1934 – April 23, 2017

John Onesimo Trujillo, 82, died Sunday, April 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Clearfield, UT.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Helen Trujillo; his children, Leonard Trujillo and wife Peggy, Terry Rawley and husband Ryk, Marcus Trujillo and wife Julie, and Tom Trujillo and wife Mary; his grandchildren, Rykie Lake and husband Robert, Tyler Rawley, Blu Trujillo and wife Kilee, Gage Trujillo, Braxton Trujillo, and Taylor Trujillo; and his great-grandchildren, Trinity Lake and Mak Trujillo.

As a young man, John joined the Navy, serving his country honorably in the Korean War as a Gunner’s Mate M Third Class. During his years in the service, he received the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He then worked for many years as a civilian employee at Hill Air Force Base as an Instrument Mechanic Supervisor.  During his time at Hill, he attended Weber State University using his GI Bill, and completed several upper management trainings to further his career.

After his retirement, he continued to do handyman work and other odd jobs to keep busy, rarely slowing down. He believed in the value of hard work, and instilled that value in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, honesty, and integrity for the next generation.

In his free time, John was an avid yardsaler and loved browsing the Swap Meet on Sunday mornings.

Funeral services will be held Friday April 28,, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit with family from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
